Features: Sturdy 2K was identified by Texas A&M in Dallas, Texas. In 1991 David Marshall observed some ‘Sturdy” plants that were noticeable different. Further research and selection showed these plants contained the Lr34 gene which have been bread into spring wheat cultivators and have over 30 years of worldwide resistance of leaf rust. This gene combined with further selection lead to ‘Sturdy 2K’. Over the years Sturdy 2K has continued to be a good grain and forage producer.
