Most current release of turf Bermudagrass and its color and density of growth can be easily seen by an untrained eye. Princess is a synthetic hybrid plant that is a first for a seeded type Bermuda. This plant can tolerate and likes high-end maintenance and will reward the owner with some of the most beautiful Bermuda that has some shade tolerance. It is the first seeded bermudagrass to rank statically the same in national Turf Trials as elite vegetative bermudagrass varieties.
Princess does take longer to get established than other varieties. Shorter height and denser leaf structures will simply take more time. Princess does require less water than many of the sod bermudas and has good wear tolerance for traffic. Water Star Qualified seed from Turfgrass Water Conservation Alliance, requires 21% less water than Tifway 419.
Should be planted when soil temperatures are consistently above 60 F. It wants direct sunlight but can survive under 50% shade. Can be mowed below 1 inch best when mowed between 1 and 1.5 inches in height. Bermuda grass thrives on fertilizer. After your lawn is established you should apply fertilizer to Bermuda two to three times during the growing season.
Available in coated seed only mixed with Sultan Bermuda under the name Smart Seed Pro.
