Many different varieties. In the black lands of Texas cotton root rot limits the life of Alfalfa to 2 to 3 years. For this reason in our locale area we only recommend Oklahoma Common Alfalfa. Other areas it can be established for several years with several cuttings per year.
August 2017 Justin Seed is offering Ranger Alfalfa. Â Ranger is a multi-strain variety selected from Cossack, Turkistan and Ladak. Due to its varied parentage, the plants show individual characteristics. Variegated and yellow flowers are both found. The plants range from upright to sprawling Ranger is resistant to bacterial wilt, but it shows susceptibility to leafspot diseases and leafhopper yellowing. Ranger shows rapid recovery after cutting.
