Short growing native that has stolons much like buffalo grass. Pale green in color and not a vigorous competitor. Grows in a wide variety of soils. Best growth occurs on loams to clay and loams that have a pH of 6.8 to 7.6. Grazed year round by livestock and wildlife. Native to the southern and southwestern states. Does not tolerate temperatures below 12°F. High tolerance to drought and restricted water conditions. Low salinity tolerance.

Uses: Curly-mesquite is grazed all year by horses, cattle, sheep, goats, antelope, and deer.
