Ryegrass, Lowboy
Annual Ryegrass that is low growing and easily terminated in the spring. Growth is focused on canopy density rather than height. Aboveground, it tillers and spreads to create rapid groundcover rather than growing taller. Below ground it exhibits both dense and deep growth, penetrating soil to create countless channels for aeration, water infiltration, and future root growth. Due to lower growth height than normal annual it’s easier to burn down.
Lowboy is recommended for cover crop usage due to low growth height and easier burn down and is easier to plant into. Lower growth height relates to less mowing for lawns and easier cover crop planting. For cover crop usage recommended seeding rate is 25-50 lbs. acre.
