JS51 was developed by Texas A&M in Dallas, Texas. JS51 is a red winter wheat that has a very dark red color at maturity. While in selection JS51 was a top forage yielder at the Dallas research facility. Grain yields in 2007 and 2008 were competitive with other varieties in North Texas.
