Short-lived, native, perennial, warm season bunchgrass with densely tufted culms found from Canada to Mexico west of the Mississippi River.
Good all-around range grass, especially in shallow soils. This is the largest and coarsest of the grama grasses
Recommended for use in parks and playgrounds, golf course roughs, commercial and residential lawns, erosion control, pastures and highway right-of-ways. Short grower--6" to 1'.
Good hay, grazing with management. Do not over graze - Prussic Acid Poison.
Fairly large, ragged bunchgrass that was introduced from Africa for cattle forage.
Largest use is turfgrass. Used to overseed warm season turf. In adaptable regions plant 2-10 lb. per 1000 sqft.
