Turf clover blend offers many benefits to some lawns. The ideal of having a low growing clover that helps build soil and plant health sounds great. Clover offers several benefits, not limited to increasing organic matter, root structure opening soils and adding nitrogen. Texas hot summers makes it hard for clovers to persist. Justin Seed is using a blend of white clovers that it has identified that occasionally persist from one year to the next. When it does die out it may leave areas with reduced summer grass stands. These clovers are cool season plants that can be planted under trees that during the summer create lots of shade. This may help them persist and give you a better chance for shade tolerant lawns. Best management practices would require reseeding each fall. For fall or late winter seeding only.
Same benefits are provided to pastures and forage crops.
