2024 is the first year of this new Texas A&M release named Amigos. Awned variety with medium maturity, semidwarf wheat with mainly white glumes. Released primarily for its excellent grain yield potential under both irrigation and dryland. Is a high performer in the High Plains and Blackland locations. In 2024 it was found to be a top forage producer perhaps due to leaf rust, stripe rust, stem rust and Hasin Fly resistance. Hasin Fly resistance is key for central Texas. It has excellent with high input production methods.
Winter hardiness is adequate across the central and southern plains state of Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska. It is susceptible to wheat mosaic virus.
Amigos has very good grain characteristics, above average milling quality, and good bread-baking qualities.
